About Andrew Hillman
Andrew Jonathan Hillman is a Dallas senior paralegal and healthcare compliance expert witness, retained through counsel in federal matters nationwide. He is not an attorney and does not provide legal advice.
He grew up in Oak Cliff and South Dallas and started working at six in the family auto parts business. He finished high school at Highland Park High School in 1995. He studied at Dallas College and SMU Cox School of Business, and later completed Harvard online courses in Jewish studies.
For three decades he built and ran FDA-regulated healthcare companies, including surgical hospitals, clinical laboratories, pharmacies, and medical device companies. He has closed that operating career. Today he is the principal of Hillman Ventures, a private Dallas family office founded in 1995 that invests its own capital in frontier biotech.
Why the grant
He funds this grant and the Andrew Hillman Scholarship for Entrepreneurs from his personal funds. Both are $1,000 essay awards for U.S. undergraduates. He also gives to Dallas schools, including The Lamplighter School and Parish Episcopal School.
Outside work
He is the father of two. He keeps a drug-free and alcohol-free routine built around the gym, the Katy Trail, and road and pedal cycling.
